Marzipan Squares Filled with Pomegranate and Cherries

Ingredients:

  • Marzipan (store-bought)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • Seeds from 1 pomegranate
  • Candied cherries
  • Paper squares, 10 x 10 cm (3.9 x 3.9 inch) – you can use colored memo notes
  • 100 g (3.5 oz.) bittersweet chocolate, broken into squares

Preparation:
Sprinkle some powdered sugar over a working surface. Roll out the marzipan into a layer 4-5 mm (0.16-0.20 inch) thick.

Place a paper square on top of the marzipan layer. Use a very sharp knife to cut a marzipan square of the desired size.

Take 2 cm (0.8 inch) of the corner of each marzipan square, fold it in half diagonally towards the center. Pinch each folded corner to hold it together. This raises the sides of the square and forms a square container.

Melt the squares of bittersweet chocolate. Use a teaspoon to decorate the marzipan squares with chocolate stripes.

Fill the marzipan containers with pomegranate seeds, candied cherries, or any other dried fruit you like.
