Pomegranate Fruit and Vegetable Diet

Eating a fruit and vegetable diet is a healthy approach for anyone to adopt, especially if you’re interested in enjoying more energy, losing weight, and looking younger. Now that’s not to say that you should eat only fruits or only vegetables for an extended period of time, but rather your daily servings of these two food groups should increase. You can still enjoy the health benefits of eating vegetables and fruits while supplementing them with lean protein, healthy fats in small amounts, and whole grains.

Why Eat a Diet Primarily of Fruits and Vegetables?

There are several reasons people adopt a diet containing more fruits and vegetables, but these seem to be the top ones:

  • Lose unwanted weight, quickly and hopefully, permanently

  • Younger looking skin and shinier, healthier looking hair

  • Detoxification of the body’s organs, including skin

Foods You Can Eat on a Fruit and Vegetable Diet

  • Pomegranates

  • Citrus fruits

  • Berries

  • Grapes

  • Apples

  • Tomatoes

  • Zucchini

  • Green beans

  • Cucumbers

  • Cabbage

  • Broccoli

  • Mango, papaya

These are just a few of the healthy options available to you if you opt to increase your servings of vegetables and fruits daily.

How Many Servings Makes a Difference?

Ideally, you should have a total of 9 servings of combined fruits and veggies per day. You can break it down to 5 fruits and 4 veggies or 6 veggies and 3 fruits or whatever works best for you that day. Does that number seem daunting to you? Keep in mind that every serving size varies, so you may already be very close to 9 servings a day without realizing it. For example, a whole banana is 2 servings of fruit, not one.

Vegetables and fruits in their raw state are packed with nutrients and vitamins, but they can also be beneficial cooked as well. Don’t boil these foods if at all possible, but opt for broiling, baking, or steaming instead to preserve the vitamins and nutrients of the food.

Why Does This Diet Work?

Vegetables and fruits are naturally low in calories and they make you feel full longer so you’re not going to be as prone to caving in to your cravings for salt, fat, and sugar. Every time you eat fruits and vegetables you deliver nutrients, vitamins, fiber and water to your body’s system, which helps your body function properly.

Balanced with lean protein, whole grains, and a small amount of healthy fats, a fruit and vegetable diet is ideally the best diet you can adopt for a healthier lifestyle.

It’s always a good idea to add more fruits and vegetables to your diet, so why not add a few more pomegranate arils to your salads and meats? You already love how they taste as the perfect snack, so why not jazz up your healthy meals even more with a tangy burst of flavor with pomegranate seeds?
